About Coach Joe May

Joe has more passion for the sport of crew than anyone we know! He can be found sculling on the lake at sunrise and sometimes again in the afternoon for a second row three seasons of the year. Over the past 15 years Joe, a US Rowing Level 2 certified coach, has coached hundreds of Masters rowers from the launch and the bow seat.

Joe is a tremendous ambassador for the sport of rowing and is involved in managing most of the regattas held on Lake Quinsigamond. Joe continues to provide excellent leadership for our club and is a well respected member of the rowing community.

Our favorite quote from Joe:

“Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born.”

~ Albert Einstein

Off the water:

In business Joe is Project Manager III at Clark University.

Joe was recently elected Vice President of Worcester Boat Club. He looks forward to continuing to serve the club and the rowing community as he has for the past 15 years.

A fun fact about Joe:

In his youth Joe was the paperboy for Mrs. Goddard, wife of American rocketry pioneer Dr. Robert Goddard. (Dr. Goddard is the inspiration for our annual 'The Rocket Regatta')
